The logs we are carving are cottonwood, poplar and elm from trees that are being removed from the community. We are also using pine , fir and spruce from central Utah. We have a bark beetle infestation that is killing the trees around the cabin, allowing us to thin the trees and remove the dead ones, giving us alot of material to work with.
